WRITING TIPS ✍🏿
Hey there,
I just discovered that Swagger has deprecated Swagger Inspector and replaced it with Swagger Explorer. If you're unfamiliar with this tool, testing your Rest API is a breeze.
It also automatically generates an OpenAPI spec file, which you can seamlessly import into your API documentation.
Documenting an OpenAPI spec file can be quite a hassle, especially with all the intricate indentations, but Swagger Explorer simplifies the process.
In addition, during a call with one of my mentees, they mentioned another amazing tool called Apidog, which does the same thing and more.
You can check out Swagger Explorer and Apidog.
I hope this helps!
Technical Documentation Tips
As a technical writer, it's important to learn at least two programming languages for several reasons:
1. Collaboration with Developers: Learning multiple programming languages allows you to collaborate better with developers. Understanding their code and communicating effectively with them can streamline the documentation process and reduce the time needed to explain their work.
2. Understanding Tools: Familiarity with different programming languages enables you to easily comprehend and explain various tools and technologies in your documentation. This helps you create clear and concise guides for developers and users.
3. Adapting to Different Projects: Knowing multiple programming languages allows you to adapt to different projects and platforms. It allows you to engage with various technical topics and contribute effectively to diverse documentation needs.
4. Versatility: Learning multiple programming languages enhances your versatility as a technical writer. It allows you to adapt to changes in technology and industry trends, making you a more valuable asset to your team.
5. Problem-Solving: Each programming language has its strengths and weaknesses. Mastering more than one language gives you a broader perspective on problem-solving and better equips you to address various technical challenges.
6. Career Growth: Proficiency in multiple programming languages can open up more opportunities for career advancement. Employers value technical writers who navigate and understand diverse technologies and programming paradigms.
